Welcome
You can now explore the living plant collections in the
H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens at the Arboretum at Penn State with our new mobile-friendly Arboretum Explorer tool.
Our collections represent more than 117 families, 392 genera, and 1,380 species of plants.
There are over 5,000 unique accessions in the Arboretum that include over 200,000 individual plants,
each carefully recorded in our plant records database and inventoried, photographed, labeled, and mapped.
Our collections serve as an outdoor classroom and living laboratory as well as a
research site and place
of enjoyment for many students and visitors.
Arboretum Explorer will be updated as plants are added to the collections and gardens expand.
You can look forward to more images, locations, plant descriptions, tours, visitor service features,
and more as we continue to collect data about our collections.
